Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia Review

Sorry I've been gone so long; I've been focusing most of my efforts recently on writing articles for (which is going pretty well I'd say).

Right now I thought I'd post a quick little blurb about a little (read: big) encyclopedia about Star War: The Old Republic.

I received it in the mail yesterday, and I've gotta say, it's one of the best things ever if you're a fan of Star War's old republic era, which, as you know, I am!

The book was so good that I was convinced to try out the MMO again, Star Wars: The Old Republic. So far it's not bad. I will say that if you want to play that game, subscribing is a must. Playing without it is a real pain in the ass and I don't suggest it unless you've got a great attention span. However, I mostly play the game for the funny dialogue options and the lore, so if that's not your thing then perhaps the free to play option will work out for you.

Anyways, back to the Encyclopedia. If I had one gripe about it it's that it spoils a lot of about the game's storylines, which I don't like since I'm only about halfway through my Jedi Knight's quests. Still, it's easy enough to skip over what you don't want to read.

The rest of the content is amazing. It's chock full of all those little nuggets fans of the Knights of the Old Republic will enjoy. I for one love all the little references to Revan, the Exile, and various party members (since I played KOTOR and KOTOR 2 religiously).

Like any Star Wars encyclopedia, it's got detailed information on how the Sith and Republic are structured, their weapons and spaceships, their heroes, and more.

Interestingly it devotes lots of time to Mandalorians as well, which I appreciated since they were glossed over in the games so much.

Anyways, there's really not much else for me to say other than that you should buy this not only if you are a fan of SWTOR the massively multiplayer online game, but if you were a huge fan of Knights of the Old Republic and it's sequel like me. You'll find a lot to love, and if you're lucky, you'll even take a few nostalgic trips down memory lane...

Bravo to the writers of this encyclopedia; you really did some fine work and I'm looking forward to what comes next!
